My first visit:
Consultation:
On each of your visits to our office you will be warmly welcomed by our receptionist, Sandy. You will be asked to fill out a patient history and other required forms along with describing in detail the problem you are experiencing. At this time, for your convenience, we will proceed with a complimentary check of your insurance benefits.
Once the paperwork is completed, you will then meet Keely, our chiropractic assistant; her training in physical therapy brings an exceptional understanding of the needs of our patients. Keely will walk you to the consultation/exam room where you will meet Dr.Tamulaitis.
The doctor will discuss your symptoms with you and ask you specific questions regarding your condition to determine if chiropractic care maybe of benefit to you. After the consultation, if Dr. Tamulaitis does not feel that you are a candidate for chiropractic treatment he will direct you to the appropriate doctor for care.
Examination:
With your consent, Dr. Tamulaitis will then continue with a complete chiropractic examination which include, testing your reflexes, range of motion, your ability to turn and bend, and other standard orthopedic neurological postural tests. The exam can be performed through light clothing. In most cases x-rays are required or a complete evaluation and can be done on site.
Treatment:
Dr. Tamulaitis will correlate all the exam findings, And if x-rays are taken, he will take time to explicitly go over them with you. He compares them side by side to a normal x-ray of the same region. This gives you a great understanding of your diagnosis. Dr. Tamulaitis will then prescribe his treatment plan for you.
The treatment plan may include 15 to 20 minute physiotherapy such as:
Cryotherapy = Ice packs applied to sprained or injured area to diminish any muscle or nerve inflammation and pain.
Electrical Muscle Stimulation = Electrical pulsating pads are placed on muscles of surrounding sprained or injured area to increase blood flow relax muscle spasms, increase range of motion and strength.
Ultra Sound = Deep heat therapy created by sound waves, reduces swelling, increase blood flow, decreases pain, stiffness and spasms.
Flexion Distraction = A specialized moving table you lay face down on which helps decompress and reduce pressure inside the disc. This facilitates the transfer of fluids, nutrients and oxygen back inside the disc.
Cold Laser Therapy = An amazing FDA approved therapy that stimulates energy at a cellular level which in turns speeds up healing. Great for chronic arthritis, tendonitis, carpal tunnel, fibromyalgia and sport injuries.
After the designated therapy Dr. Tamulaitis will then do a series of specific spinal adjustments. While undergoing adjustment, it is important that the patient remain relaxed for this to be effective. A certain speed of the thrust is employed to ensure that the patient's muscles have no time to contract and so restrict the movement. Cracking or popping sound may be heard during the thrust. This is caused by gases in the synovial fluid (the lubricating fluid inside each joint capsule) and is harmless.
Chiropractic adjustments rarely cause discomfort however; as with some forms of exercise, patients may sometimes experience mild soreness or aching following treatment. The doctor recommends cold packs to the area to help reduce this soreness and it usually resolves within 12 to 48 hours. Most patients begin to see results from the very first adjustment and nine out of ten patients are 80% better with in two weeks, or a total of about 6 visits. Many patients find they benefit from follow up visits every three to four months to help maintain over all good health.
In addition to chiropractic adjustments, therapy and rehabilitation, we offer non-surgical Spinal Decompression Therapy which is highly effective in relieving pain and disability. This latest development in treatment of low back pain is the therapeutic elongation of the spine in a slow, gentle manner in order to relieve pressure on compressed vertebrae and discs. injuries.
The non-invasive treatment option has been cleared by the F.D.A. to relieve pain associated with:
  • Herniated Discs
  • Bulging Discs
  • Degenerative Disc
  • Sciatica
  • Posterior Facet Syndrome
  • Failed Surgeries

Patients can finally experience relief from chronic back pain:

  1. Without Risk
  2. Without Pain.
  3. Without Lengthy recovery periods associated with surgical procedures.

The following are excerpts from 3 case studies conducted by major research facilities into the effectiveness of spinal decompression therapy.

Relief for Herniated Lumbar Disc Sufferers.

Eyerman, Edward MD.Journal of Neuroimaging. 2-26-98.

"Serial MRI of 20 patients treated with the decompression table shows in our study up to 90% reduction of subligamentous nucleus herniation in 10 of 14. Some rehydration occurs detected by T2 and proton density signal increase. Torn annulus repair is seen in all."

Decompression, Reduction, and Stabilization of the Lumbar Spine:
A Cost-Effective Treatment for Lumbosacral Pain.

C. Norman Shealy, MD, PhD American Journal of Pain Management Vol. 7 No. 2 April 1997

"Eighty-six percent of ruptured intervertebral disc (RID) patients achieved ’good’ (50-89% improvement) to ’excellent’ (90-100% improvement) results with decompression. Sciatica and back pain were relieved." "Of the facet arthrosis patients, 75% obtained ’good’ to ’excellent’ results with decompression."

Surgical Alternatives: Spinal Decompression.

Gionis, Thomas MD; Groteke, Eric DC.Orthopedic Technology Review. 2003; 6 (5).

"Results showed that 86% of the 219 patients who completed the therapy reported immediate resolution of symptoms, while 84% remained pain-free 90 days post-treatment. Physical examination findings showed improvement in 92% of the 219 patients, and remained intact in 89% of these patients 90 days after treatment."
